Training and Scholarships
Through the Australia Awards scheme, Malian officials travelled to Australia in 2010 and 2011 to undertake training in mining governance and management, as well trade law. More will take part in such activities, including masters-level awards, in the coming years.

Community Engagement
Australia has supported a number of community development projects in Mali, including a textile dyeing training project for handicapped women and girls, building a primary school block in the village of Kawerla (170 kilometres from the capital Bamako), and assisting farmers improve agricultural techniques to combat soil erosion.

Australian Investment
A number of Australian companies are present in Mali: West Africa Drilling Services, African Underground Mining Services, Golden Rim Resources (gold and copper), Papillon (gold) and Oklo Uranium (uranium). Resolute Mining Limited operates the Syama gold mine, 300km southeast of Bamako, the capital.
