Authentication of Australian State Driver Licences

Driving Licence requirements in Ghana

For visits to Ghana of up to 12 months, an international driving licence or international driving permit is accepted. After 12 months a Ghanaian licence is required.
Holders of foreign driving licences can obtain a Ghanaian drivers licence by showing an authentication of their driving licences from the issuing authority in their home state (this is easy to obtain in Australia, but more difficult outside Australia). The authentication (in any form, such as an email or printed statement) can be presented at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Accra. The Australian High Commission is also able to issue a letter to verify state driving licences at a fee.
